The Granite Rock (From Scotland)

       

'We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll;
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour's love!'

This is a boulder of granite from the Scottish island of Ailsa Craig, and has been donated by Kays of Scotland, the world's leading manufacturer of Curling Stones. This verse has been carved in script on the rock, in an area which has been cut & polished.

The Anchor is fastened to the rock, to one side of which is an area of the rock which has been inscribed with the above chorus of the hymn "Will your anchor hold?". You can see in the pictures below the anchor as it arrived from the Royal Navy and as it has been adapted for the BB Garden.
