The Slate Rock (From Wales)

This takes the form of a monolith centrepiece on the patio area and is a column of rough hewn slate about a metre in height.
The slate is cut and polished at an angle on the top so that it slopes towards the bench

A circular metal plate is attached to this monolith, which has the Anchor emblem of The Boys' Brigade in coloured enamel surrounded by the words of The Object of The BB. Inside is inscribed

Since 1883 The Boys' Brigade has been
important to many thousands of people,
each leaving their mark upon the movement.
Tyhis Garden is a place of pilgrimage to
reflect on those wh have served the Brigade.

(In Braille underneath)

The Boys' Brigade is a worldwide Christian uniformed youth movement,
founded in Glasgow in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith.

Another plate is attached to the side of the monolith, with the wording:-
"Remember your Creator while you are still young.
Remember the Lord in everything you do, and He will show you the right way"

Ecclesiastes 12 verse 1 and Proverbs 3 verse 6
